Full Time Security Guard - Health Care / Hospital
Site Description: The Fishermen's Memorial Hospital has 43 beds and support facilities for medical, outpatient/emergency and long-term care. The hospital is well equipped with diagnostic and treatment services including Laboratory, EKG, Diagnostic Imaging, Pharmacy, Bone Densitometry, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, a Drug and Alcohol Dependency Unit (with 10 beds), and Program, and Diabetes Education Centre and a Veterans Unit.
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Fishermen's Memorial Hospital
Hours: Rotational Shifts - 0800-2000/2000-0800
Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Report Writing: Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards
Ability to travel for shifts at area hospitals is preferred (Bridgewater, Liverpool)
Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia
English (oral and written) fluency is a must
Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
Prior training certifications may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
Applicants lacking acceptable certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
