JOB TITLE: Special Events Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Events & Volunteer Specialist
In Person / In Office-London ON/35 hrs per week for 8 weeks at $18/hr/Canada Summer Jobs Program
The Special Events Coordinator will enhance the success of Walk for Parkinson’s, our largest yearly fundraiser, through the following tasks:
- Contacting all past participants to ensure they received the walk brochure, and provide them with information about the event
- Assist participants who experience challenges in navigating our online registration system
- Contacting all Long Term Care and Retirement Residences to provide information on how to get involved in walks through LTC Challenge
- Solicit prizes from local businesses for silent auction and raffles, coordinate the pick up of items, and prepare bid sheets
- Work with local committees & volunteers on the planning of walk logistics and keep accurate minutes of such meetings
- Assisting with marketing of the event through: distribution of posters and pledge forms through the local community, partners, and health care agencies; sending prepared ads out to local media outlets; creating and editing social media posts; creating run sheets for the event.
- Prepare invitations for local dignitaries to attend the walk events
- Recording all interactions with clients, community members and stakeholders in Raiser’s Edge database
