Murray Latta Progressive Machine Inc. is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join our senior management team. This pivotal role demands a unique blend of technical proficiency, strong manufacturing experience, and exceptional interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of customer orientation, be a people-focused team player, and demonstrate the drive to secure deals while providing technical leadership. This position will take ownership of the Permit to Practice, ensuring ethical adherence throughout the company, and will play a critical role in building both internal and external engineering support teams.
Technical Leadership:
Serve as the engineering leader and technical expert, providing direction, coaching, and support as required.
Provide technical leadership on all manufacturing projects, ensuring high standards and quality.
Customer Engagement:
Engage directly with customers, building trust and strong relationships.
Collaborate with the sales team, contributing to securing projects and expanding business opportunities.
Mentor and grow a young engineering group, expanding the team as needed.
Develop and nurture a network of external engineering suppliers to support project demands.
Process and Project Management:
Clearly communicate objectives and tasks to the engineering team.
Remove obstacles and streamline processes to ensure the success of engineering and business objectives.
Answer questions and resolve issues encountered within the engineering department.
Develop plans, processes, and procedures for the engineering department.
Ensure the engineering team is performing at levels that meet company and project goals.
Check and confirm the accuracy of work performed by the engineering team.
Hire, train, and supervise engineering team members.
Collaborate with other departments to achieve business and continuous improvement objectives.
Involved in sales, risk analysis, design, execution, and field follow-up for projects.
Handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion.
Must be a Professional Mechanical Engineer registered with EGBC.
- 10+ years of engineering experience, ideally in a management role.
- Minimum 4 years of experience using SolidWorks in a working environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical drawing standards, dimensioning, and practical/economical tolerances for manufacturing.
- Understanding of the revision control process for drawings and documents.
- Knowledge of industrial machining, welding, and assembly techniques.
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with Syspro/ERP is an asset.
