First Nations Financial Management Board

This is a term position of 12 months with possible extension to 18 ApplyWork with a growing national team dedicated to reconciliation at the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB). We support First Nations in developing and implementing sound administrative governance and finance practices that are fully optional and provided free to First Nations. The FMB was created under the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (FMA) in 2006 and has been serving First Nations ever since. A career at FMB is an opportunity to be part of a talented diverse and inclusive team doing transformative work on a national OverviewReporting to the Associate Director People & Culture the HR Assistant is responsible for assisting the Associate Director People & Culture and the HR Generalist with support of the overall provision of HR services policies and programs for the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB).The position functions in a fast paced high-volume environment where considerable attention to detail and the ability to handle highly confidential material is required to maximize the effectiveness of FMB Human Resources team. The HR Assistant is expected to be customer service-oriented and exhibit a high degree of diplomacy and discretion. AccountabilitiesAdministrative/HRISCreate organize maintain and coordinate employee and office records and files;Locate filed materials upon request ensuring that materials are given only to authorized parties;Prepare Word Excel and PowerPoint documents as directed;Proofread HR-related documents;Audit HR policies and procedures in place and provide suggestions on updates and/or improvements;Assist with regular research and compliance initiatives regarding HR issues;Maintain current knowledge of HR systems and tools and demonstrates an ability to access required information;Provide appropriate guidance and support to employees to ensure proper use of HR systems;Maintain currency with emerging trends developments methods and technologies in the Human Resource field;Participate in various committees as the recruiting strategy to ensure FMB attracts high caliber talent in a timely manner by supporting the recruitment process with:Post and distribute vacancies and recruitment information Monitor job posting advertising externally as neededSort resumesConduct phone screensSchedule interviewsCreate draft interview questionsComplete criminal reference checksComplete reference checks Draft offer lettersComplete and distribute regret lettersSupport orientation of new employees;Prepare application vacancy and job fair materials as needed; Determine sourcing & attraction strategies/methodologies to increase FMBs ability to attract source and recruit indigenous candidates;Support the increase of Indigenous Culture and Culture Awareness within FMB staff;Enhance job satisfaction by resolving issues promptly researching new perks and benefits and recommending employee training as needed;Ensure effective exit interviews and provide management with analysis and recommendations;Assist HR Manager(s) with training program development;Assist with employee training upon -Secondary Education in Human Resource Management from a recognized educational institution;CPHR or working towards it is an asset;Two (2) years recent related HR experience;Proficient working skills of complex HRIS systems (Dayforce preferred) Microsoft Suite and Adobe Products;Excellent communicator with a strong command of written and spoken English; French language skills considered an asset;Exceptional relationship building skills;Excellent judgment required to provide sound direction and advice on a variety of human resources issues;Knowledge of employment/labour laws and general human resources policies and procedures;Experience working with information and data management systems an asset;Experience working with Indigenous Governments organizations and communities considered a strong we OfferSalary and annual bonus eligibility;Flexible 37.5-hour work weekEmployer paid extended benefits;Annual vacation allowance and generous paid stat & non-stat days;Remote or hybrid work arrangements depending on location;Professional development & career growth ConditionsThis position is based in West Vancouver British Columbia Winnipeg Manitoba Ottawa Ontario or Montreal Quebec;National travel may be is an equal opportunity employer that recognizes and celebrates the diversity of all First Nations and people across Canada.
