Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Director of Recreation and Culture Services, the Manager of Recreation Programs is responsible for the management, operation and administration of the Programs Branch within the Recreation and Culture Services Department. Specifically, this position is responsible for overseeing Aquatics, Fitness/Active Living, Community Programs, and Branch operations, while maintaining strong relationships with community organizations and committees. Key technical responsibilities include participating in recreation needs assessment and master planning initiatives/studies; managing and coordinating the development and delivery of recreation and events programs; managing and coordinating development and delivery of special initiatives; developing marketing strategies and reviewing/authorizing promotional materials; and championing the corporate, divisional and departmental mission and values. This position provides leadership and guidance to a Supervisory Team supporting a variety of full-time and part-time staff. Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
Four (4) year University Degree in Recreation and Leisure, Physical Education, or related field

Wage: This a permanent full-time non-union position with the following pay level and 2025 pay range:
Hourly Pay Rate: $59.15 to $79.28
