Reporting directly to the National Sales Manager, the role of the Outside Sales Representative is to create and promote the development of business partnerships with SanMar Canada's customers. Outside Sales Representatives make daily face-to-face visits to consult with customers on how to build their business, educate customers on our products and marketing tools, and provide superior service that surpasses customers' needs and expectations. The Outside Sales Representative is proactive and is continually looking for ways to increase sales and profit, overcome challenges, offer follow-up and efficiently respond to requests and anticipate customers' needs.
University or college degree in Marketing, Sales or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 3 years of work experience in an external sales capacity in the apparel and/or promotional product industry
Excellent knowledge of the industry, company, and product line with a strong sales background
Professional demeanour, sales strategies, and appearance
Experience in pre-visit planning, account development, and territory management
Strong knowledge of retail and or wholesale sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with customers
Demonstrated ability to communicate via email using effective and professional language skills
Must possess a valid driver's license and passport
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Frequent travel is required
Occasional travel and attendance required at tradeshows and events
Meet weekly service call targets as determined by the National Sales Manager
Perform product knowledge sessions or highlight Company products and or services while with customers
Contribute to product development by identifying new trends and providing customer feedback
Liaise between customers and other areas of the Company
Use marketing data and tools to maximize sales efficiency and effectiveness
Competitors, customers, and the promotional products industry
Develop and maintain customer relationships
Provide regular written reports as requested by the National Sales Manager
Adhere to current and future company policies and standards to ensure a safe and agreeable working environment
