The Counsellor provides an extensive array of counselling services to support a broad cross-section of client groups who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, violent crime, trauma, anxiety, isolation, depression and grief. This position provides intake, assessment, individual service plans, individual and group counselling, brief and ongoing sessions, and provides clients with information about other relevant services. The Counsellor assists clients in addressing trauma and working toward identified goals.
Archway’s Counsellor with the Montrose Trauma and Wellness Program contributes by:
Informing potential Abuse Counselling clients about program eligibility, other programs they can access, and managing and tracking client waitlists for individual and group services.
Maintaining and updating confidential client files in a timely manner, ensuring both hard copy and digital files are up to date, accurate and in compliance with program, agency policy and CARF standards.
Providing one-on-one, clinical interventions, in person or virtually, that may include psychoeducation, crisis support, and trauma counselling as is appropriate for the client(s).
Conducting phone screening and intake appointments both virtually and in person.
Consulting with other professionals, including social workers, caseworkers, probation officers, and other Archway staff, providing services to clients sharing relevant information.
This position is a great fit for someone who has knowledge and experience working with vulnerable populations facing trauma and providing counselling and support.
Wage: $41.83 per hour
A full-time position at 32 hours per week, availability Mondays to Fridays, from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Temporary until May 15, 2027.

Master’s degree in counselling or a related field
Registered with a professional regulatory body such as the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors or the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association.
Registered as a CVAP approved counsellor is an
Training in trauma counselling.
One year experience providing trauma counselling.
Strong relationship building skills; Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills and ability to prioritize competing
Up to date knowledge of relevant community
Strong computer skills; able to use Microsoft Office365, and virtual meeting platforms including Microsoft Teams.
Skills in communicating and presenting information to a variety of audiences in a clear, concise, and effective way for the purposes of report writing, facilitating meetings and networking.
Ability to exhibit personal maturity, sound judgment, self-motivation, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
The ability to work some evenings to accommodate client schedules.
