Research Associate - Full Time / À Temps Plein

The School of Computer Science and Engineering is offering an opportunity for a Research Associate . In this role you will conduct both independent and collaborative research as part of a defence funded project focused on developing robust multimodal foundational models for continual situational understanding. This position offers the opportunity to advance your scholarly research and professional activities on both national and international levels. You will contribute to the writing of scientific papers and reports for international journals participate in conferences and workshops supervise HDR students and actively collaborate with industry partners.

Fixed-term contract 3 years starting in January 2026

Our research and teaching staff are world leading and world building as they advance knowledge and learning. PhD (or soon to be awarded) in computer science electrical engineering or related area with demonstrated experience in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.

Experience in researching on adversarial AI attacks and defence strategies.

Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research with limited supervision.

Ability to supervise undergraduate students or equivalent experience in the supervision of junior staff in related projects.

An understanding of and commitment to UNSWs aims objectives and values in action together with relevant policies and guidelines.

Ability and capacity to implement required UNSW health and safety policies and procedures
