Allendale Long Term Care Facility - 185 Ontario Street, Milton
Applicants within the bargarining unit will be provided first consideration.
The Janitor maintains the cleanliness of the facility and grounds of the long term care home while keeping appropriate inventory and distributing goods for all departments.
Order, maintain and control appropriate inventory as per established procedures.
- Clean the facility and grounds as per established schedule.
- Operate and maintain floor cleaning and other janitorial equipment.
- Clean walls, ceilings and windows as instructed.
- Collect garbage and transport to collection bins.
- Collect recyclable material and transport to collection bins.
- Perform special project cleaning in designated areas.
- Set up and take down furniture for functions.
- Assist with moving of resident’s belongings.
- Assist the laundry operation as required.
- Respond to a facility fire alarm in accordance with the established Policies and Procedures.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma with relevant work experience.
- Ability to handle janitorial/cleaning equipment and tools.
- Basic knowledge of computers.
- Understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care.
Flexibility to work outside of core business hours including evenings, weekends and holidays is required.

Current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Check, by the first day of employment.
Current (obtained within the past six (6) months) two-step tuberculosis test or Quanti-FERON-TB Gold plus test by the first day of employment.
