Cleaning janitor

The Custodian maintains the cleanliness of the facility property and or grounds in compliance with applicable standards. The incumbent makes minor repairs and provides access to the facility as required.

Establishes and monitors preventative maintenance procedures for related equipment; Performs a number of minor repairs and duties in a variety of trade areas such as electrical carpentry plumbing and painting; reports safety concerns and major repair issues (e.g. furniture and fixtures).
Ensures the general upkeep of the facility such as cleaning floors washrooms windows dusting collects and disposes of garbage vacuums.
Checks cleans moves arranges and dusts furniture as required.
Ensures the general upkeep of external property such as mowing lawns keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice cleaning main floor outside windows picking up litter sweeping sidewalks gardening/watering and pruning shrubs raking.
Checks doors and windows to ensure building and resident security; provides access to the facility and secures the facility as needed.
Restocks washroom supplies and distributes received material as required.
More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience including life skills and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.
The performance of the job requires operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools mopping/sweeping bending/twisting/lifting occasional ladder work and fine motor skills.
The performance of the job requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment handling hazardous chemicals and using non-motorized/general cleaning equipment.

The incumbents work environment is typically in the entire facility and property designated.
