Sales & Management Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Sales Associate to join our dynamic retail team. The ReStore Sales Associate supports product sales and store profitability through daily coordination of the store warehouse, donor materials, store volunteers, customer service and retail sales in support of the ReStore's sales targets and Habitat for Humanity's mission.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, assisting customers with their purchases, and maintaining a well-organized sales floor. This role requires a passion for sales and a commitment to delivering an outstanding shopping experience. An interest in thrifting, antiques or furniture is desirable.
Customer Service

• Greet customers warmly and ascertain their needs to provide tailored assistance.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system efficiently for transactions, returns, and exchanges.
• Promote the sale of stock
• community.
• Demonstrate excellent time management skills by prioritizing tasks effectively during busy periods.

Assist in inventory management, including restocking shelves and organizing merchandise displays.

• Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring that the sales floor is visually appealing.
• Provides merchandising layout and organization in order to maximize sales.
• Ensures the safety and cleanliness of the store, adhering to Habitat ReStore safety policies.

Assists the ReStore Supervisor and Warehouse Coordinator to determine the customer demand of specific used and surplus building materials and household goods.

• Assesses potential donations according to condition and sale ability and either accept or decline the items.
• Researches and values items for sale.

Coaches and works with volunteers in maintaining the ReStore, receiving product and serving customers.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse clientele.

• Excellent organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain store appearance.
• High level of personal integrity - honest and dependable
• Knowledge of building supplies an asset.
• Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence
• A clean criminal record; a criminal record check will be completed
• First Aid training
• Excellent verbal and written English skills
• Basic or better computer knowledge and skills
• Weekend/Saturday work required.

Our Habitat ReStores are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials, furniture, appliances and home décor. The Castlegar ReStore generates funds to support Habitat for Humanity homebuilding projects and to support our work with Habitat Partner Families in the Boundary, West Kootenay and East Kootenay regions.
