Your Opportunity:
The Physiological Laboratory Tec I position provides pulmonary function testing to outpatient clinics including but not limited to Pre- and Post-Transplant Clinics, Cystic Fibrosis Clinic, Interstitial Lung Disease Clinic, Asthma Clinic, Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic, and other various clinics. This position also provides services to inpatients at the University of Alberta Hospital and the Stollery Children's Hospital. As a Physiological Laboratory Technician I, you are an integral part of the pulmonary function team responsible for collection, analysis and interpretation of pulmonary data. The successful incumbent needs to be able to work highly independently and be able to use critical thinking skills, organizational tools and have skills in prioritization. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

As a Physiological Laboratory Technician I you are an integral part of the Pulmonary Function team, responsible for collection, analysis, and interpretation of Hemodynamic and Radiographic data from Cardiac Catheterization procedures in a multidisciplinary team environment. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. Active or eligible for registration with Canadian Association of Cardiopulmonary Technologists (CACPT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications: Graduate of a recognized School of Respiratory Therapy accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education (CoARTE). Current BLS-HCP with the physical ability to perform CPR on adult patients. Previous Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) experience is required, including competency in performing and interpreting PFT procedures (e.g., spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion capacity). A working knowledge of Connect Care, Netcare, Outlook and Word as well as other applications is required. Must have excellent communication and documentation skills, and the ability to participate as an interdisciplinary team member. The candidate needs to be able to work independently and needs to have high organizational and prioritizing skills. An intermediate level of physical activity is required to fulfill job requirements including but not limited to reaching above shoulders frequently, looking up frequently, prolonged periods of keyboard computer work and the ability to assist patients with mobility limitations is required (i.e. transfers, bariatric clients, bending, stooping, twisting, walking distances). Must be able to lift and carry 10–15 kg regularly. Must be physically able to lift 50 pounds.
