Warehouse Inventory Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of a respected client in premium food distribution for a meticulous Warehouse Inventory Manager. This is a full-time, permanent position in a dynamic, fast-paced environment handling ambient, refrigerated, and frozen products.
About the Role
This is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing warehouse inventory, end-to-end product traceability, and maintaining regulatory compliance with food safety standards. You'll play a critical role in minimizing spoilage, optimizing cold chain logistics, and leading a team within multiple temperature zones.
This role reports to the National Logistics Director and will lead a team, so training and communication skills are critical.
Key Responsibilities Inventory Accuracy & Rotation
Lead the development and enforcement of FEFO (First Expired, First Out) policies to ensure optimal product freshness and reduce waste.
Design and manage a comprehensive cycle counting program.
Investigate inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Traceability & Compliance
Maintain 100% accuracy in lot/batch tracking from receiving to shipping.
Serve as the lead contact for audits (CFIA, SQF, HACCP, financial) and mock recalls.
Oversee procedures for product holds, damages, and disposals.
Operations & Team Management
Manage and train the inventory control team on food handling and safety.
Ensure proper management of temperature-controlled zones.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance for product inspections and releases.
Optimize warehouse slotting and layout to support operational efficiency.
Systems & Reporting
Maximize the use of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and ERP platforms such as SAP.
Create dashboards and analytical reports in Excel (Power Query, INDEX-MATCH, VBA, etc.).
Provide detailed performance and inventory reports to senior leadership.
Minimum Requirements
Required:
- 5+ years of inventory management experience (2+ years in food, CPG, or grocery distribution).
- Strong knowledge of cold chain logistics, lot control, and food safety compliance.
- Proficiency in WMS/ERP systems (preferably SAP) and advanced Excel reporting.
- Experience managing teams in multi-temperature warehouse settings.
Preferred:
Certification or Education in Supply Chain, Business, or Logistics.
Food safety certification (HACCP, SQF Practitioner).
Familiarity with lean or continuous improvement practices.
