Cost Planning Analyst

Reporting to the Chief Estimator, the Intermediate Estimator is responsible for providing Estimating services to aid and support the Business Development, Operations and Estimating departments. The Intermediate Estimator will be part of the Estimating and Project team environments, and provide and coordinate full estimating services on various projects, and contract types. The Intermediate Estimator will be required to be able to work on Conceptual Budgets, Construction Management, Design-Build Proposals and Hard Tendered (Lump Sum) Estimates, including quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and sub-contractor pricing. The Intermediate Estimator will be part of the tender call and review of Supplier/Sub-Contractor quotes and awards. Please note this role is office-based and the large majority of the individual's typical work day is spent in a seated position using general office equipment such as but not limited to: computer, phone, printer, scanner, etc. Maintain Sub-Contractors/Supplier relations

Maintain unit price and productivity knowledge and database

Take part in project interviews if necessary

Confer with Engineers, Architects and Owners on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and assist in the preparation of studies, materials methods, recommendations, and costs estimates as required

Take part in Project Team meetings

Attend training courses as required by team leader

Assist in training for Estimating team

Maintain and upgrade estimating software as required

Ability to navigate software packages, including Word, Excel, OST, Microsoft Scheduler, Bluebeam etc.

Identify building materials and possible alternatives for cost reduction

Develop Sub-Contractor work scopes for tendering

Ability to chair and control meetings

Ability to schematically design project from client's requirements

Ability to analyze risk associated to project

A Post-Secondary Certificate/Degree in Engineering, or the equivalent of a designated Professional Engineer or a Technical School graduate in a Construction-related discipline

2 years of on-site experience

5+ years of Estimating experience with a General Contractor

Thorough knowledge of Estimating techniques, all Engineering disciplines, cost control systems

Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus the ability to coordinate and supervise group work efforts is essential

Experience with coaching teams in collaborative planning
