Position Overview:
The Logistics Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily transportation and logistics operations to ensure timely cost-effective and compliant delivery of goods across the network. This role leads a team of logistics professionals manages vendor relationships and drives continuous improvement in service performance safety and operational efficiency.

Job Description:

Transportation Operations
Supervise daily inbound and outbound transportation activities including reverse logistics.
Monitor logistics service providers (LSPs) to ensure adherence to delivery schedules quality standards and compliance requirements.
Support freight audit processes and assist in resolving transportation-related claims (damage loss service failures).
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to reduce manual tasks.
Act as point of contact for escalations; resolve complaints related to logistics operations.
Ensure alignment with customer service expectations and internal SLAs.

Vendor Coordination
Maintain regular communication with vendors to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Participate in vendor performance reviews and contribute to strategic sourcing decisions.
Provide feedback on vendor performance and escalate issues as needed.
Assist in implementing vendor management programs and support procurement during RFP processes.

Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety standards and transportation regulations.
Promote a safety-first culture within the team and vendor network.
Conduct regular audits and ensure documentation is up to date.

Performance & Reporting
Review and validate transportation data for KPI reporting.
Support system updates and troubleshooting for transportation management systems (TMS).
Prepare operational reports and highlight areas for improvement.
Use data insights to recommend operational improvements.

Team Leadership
Lead mentor and develop a high-performing logistics team.
Foster collaboration and continuous improvement within the team.
Support onboarding and training of new team members.

Specific Skills:
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities to manage complex logistics scenarios.
Effective communication and stakeholder management across internal teams and external partners.
Proficiency in logistics systems and MS Excel.
Ability to balance attention to detail with broader operational priorities.
Analytical skills for interpreting transportation data and identifying trends.
Leadership and team-building skills to foster engagement and accountability.
Adaptability to fast-paced environments and changing priorities.

Knowledge:
Solid understanding of transportation and logistics operations.
Familiarity with freight forwarding carrier management and supply chain principles.
Knowledge of regulatory compliance safety standards and industry best practices.
Experience managing third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and vendor relationships.
Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (e.g. Manhattan TMS or similar).
Understanding of cost control budgeting and performance metrics in logistics.
Knowledge of team leadership principles and workforce scheduling.

Education & Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in transportation and logistics operations.
• 1-3 years of previous supervisory experience
• Diploma or degree in Logistics Supply Chain or related field.
• Professional certifications (e.g. CSCP SCMP etc.) are considered an asset.
