Hiring Unit: Student Housing & Hospitality Services Position Summary: Monitors operating funds and advises Student Housing and Hospitality Services' (SHHS) management on status of accounts. Liaises with Financial Services regarding SHHS's accounting issues. Responsible for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving accounting discrepancies. Provides day-to-day assistance to SHHS's accounting staff in their application of university accounting policies and procedures. Assists SHHS's accounting staff with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management, payroll, and account reconciliations. Provides input and assistance in dealing with external/internal customer billings and payments to suppliers. Liaises regularly with SHHS units and other departments to obtain and convey information and/or to correct transactions and ensure proper reconciliation. Supervises accounts receivable and accounts payable staff. Completes special projects and miscellaneous assignments as required. Provide assistance to the Finance Officer in the financial operations of Student Housing & Hospitality Services.

Assist the Finance Officer with the preparation and maintenance of the budget and perform budget and accounting functions.

Assist the Finance Officer with the year-end closing.

Responsible for month-end closing and verification of monthly journal entries and various account reconciliations.

Responsible for quarterly reconciliations for all of SHHS's unearned revenue and accounts receivable accounts.

Ensure that all expense reports meet the University's policies and procedures and is in alignment with SHHS's requirements.

Monitors operating funds and advises SHHS management on status of accounts.

Liaises with Financial Services regarding SHHS accounting issues.

Responsible for effectively researching, tracking and resolving accounting discrepancies.

Provides day-to-day guidance to SHHS accounting staff in their application of university policies and procedures.

Oversee/supervise clerical staff.

Responsible for the analysis & distribution of resident council cheques.

Participate in special projects and other tasks as needed.

Knowledge of French and English. McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of accounting and financial management. Efficient with computerized applications including spreadsheets, databases and word-processing applications. English and French, spoken and written. Knowledge of Workday, an asset.
