About CASA House

CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and/or addictions challenges. Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months. Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings.
40.28 to $53.03 per hour
Shift structure: Eight-hour Day and Evening shifts

• b>The Mental Health Nurse will:

Complete appropriate nursing assessments (physical and psychosocial) to identify mental health concerns and current risks. Performing medication reconciliation;
Monitoring physiological parameters; Monitoring medication side effects.
Integrate assessment and other data to establish appropriate long and short-term goals and provide nursing interventions to promote, maintain and restore health.
Monitor, evaluate and modify nursing care plans based on effectiveness of interventions and/or changes in condition or environment, in collaboration with the patient and care team.
Act as a resource and provide training to team members to assist in their professional development.
At the direction of the Manager, work collaboratively with the research department to assist with development and use of performance indicators, critical appraisal of evaluation findings and knowledge transfer.
Assist with individual or group therapy.
Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing Required. Bachelor’s degree in nursing or Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
Must be a member in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta or College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta.
A minimum of three to five years of recent pediatric experience in an ambulatory care setting which has included the care and management of children with mental health problems. Acute care experience in children’s mental health would be an asset.
Charge Nurse experience an asset.
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. Must maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) and be physically able to perform all interventions.
