The Integrated Support Worker (ISW) works as a member of an inter-professional team carrying out rehabilitation and support functions in a community living environment with adults living with a serious mental illness, 16 years of age and older. The incumbent is responsible for supporting the delivery of individualized treatment plans and required services. In addition, the incumbent participates in providing support, advocacy, and crisis intervention. This position collaborates closely with the clinical team to provide ongoing side-by-side, support, and life skills teaching for individuals living with a mental illness and/or addiction within the high support of a transitional housing program.
The incumbent works within a transitional housing community environment, where services are offered based on the individual service needs of the program and will be expected to support community integration with transportation and appointments outside the work location. There are a number of specialty Integrated Support Worker roles, supporting clients across multiple programs at the Agency. Stabilization implements the day-to-day activities of the Stabilization program for individuals living with addiction and have a history of being precariously housed or homeless and may have mental health challenges. This position works with community services agencies to provide support, intervention and skill development.
As such, the Integrated Support Worker for French Language Services is responsible for providing services to clients in English and French and works collaboratively within the team on supporting French-speaking clients outside of their assigned case load. The incumbent may also be asked to support French-speaking clients of other programs of the agency as required. Travel may be required to all KFL&A sites.
Note : If the competition is unsuccessful for a French Language Services individual, applicants without proficiency in French language will be considered at that time. Oral French Language proficiency at the Advanced level, in accordance with the provincial standard.
Three years’ relevant experience providing services to individuals who live with a mental illness, preferably in a community setting.
Certification in First Aid and CPR an asset.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) an asset.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) an asset.
Experience working within a community based mental health model, preferred.
Knowledge of issues related to addictions an asset.
Working knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and other relevant legislation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage community services and individuals, increasing awareness of services.
Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.
