Platform Engineer (Remote)

Our multi-purpose team of data engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, underwriters, actuaries, and other experts work together to innovate and solve complex issues in insurance auditing and accelerated underwriting. Our Platform Engineers build and operate the internal developer platform that enables teams to ship secure, compliant, and reliable services quickly. We focus on creating a great developer experience (DevEX) for infrastructure, deployments, and operations, allowing product teams to better focus their efforts on delivering business value and less time managing platform complexity.

Design, build, and operate a secure and reliable internal platform for running business applications and machine learning workloads at scale
Distributed application orchestration platforms, ingress, service networking, secrets management, policy controls, identity integration) that are reusable across teams
Maintain cloud and platform infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform/Pulumi/Crossplane) in a secure, scalable, and reusable manner, including modular design, versioning, policy guardrails, automated validation, and safe rollout practices
Provide opinionated reference architectures and reusable building blocks (e.g., Helm charts, Argo CD apps, Terraform modules, scaffolding tools) that enable consistent delivery
Implement guardrails for security and compliance (policy-as-code, least privilege, workload identity, image provenance, runtime controls) while maintaining developer velocity
Own platform observability by establishing monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, and SLO practices to ensure a stable and measurable developer platform
Drive platform reliability and operational excellence: incident response, root cause analysis, postmortems, and continuous improvement to reduce toil
Support daily operations, monitoring, and security functions of the platform stack, including routine maintenance, access/identity workflows, vulnerability remediation, and operational support for internal platform services
Lead through influence and consensus: provide technical guidance, reviews, and mentorship to peers and junior engineers
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
Strong experience with Distributed application orchestration platforms / OpenShift and core platform components (networking, ingress, service discovery, storage, RBAC, admission control, multi-tenancy).
Experience implementing and standardizing **CI/CD** for multi-team environments (preference for GitHub Actions and Argo CD), including release strategies and deployment automation
Experience with at least one major Cloud Service Provider (CSP) such as Azure/GCP/AWS
Strong networking fundamentals (DNS, TLS, load balancing, routing, private connectivity)
Strong security foundations across identity, application, data, network, and supply-chain security (scanning, signing, SBOM, secrets handling, policy enforcement)
Strong software engineering fundamentals; experience building internal tooling/automation with a preference for Go, Python, or TypeScript
Experience with algorithms and software engineering
Experience with at least one programming language with a preference for Python, Golang, or, JavaScript/TypeScript
Experience with containers and container tooling (Docker, registries, image build pipelines)
Excellent knowledge of Linux operating systems and operational troubleshooting

Our base salary range for this role is between $143,692 to $166,381 per year, plus an opportunity for an annual company bonus based upon a percentage of eligible pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to internal equity.
