Registered Nurse Part Time Evening and Night shift

Under the direct supervision of the Manager, or designate, and according to regional and unit specific policies and directives the Registered Nurse will work in a multidisciplinary environment providing care to patients from across the AHS area who have been admitted to the Family Medicine Units at Leduc Community Hospital. The Registered Nurse, as a heath professional, bears the primary responsibility and accountability to assess patient needs, plan for/implement and evaluate nursing care needs for patients who are admitted to Family Medicine. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the past five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required prior to employment: CRNA Medication Management (Chapters 1-4): NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification:

Possess good decision-making skills, exercise sound judgment, and be able to work effectively in stressful/busy situations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a necessity with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Able to work in a physically challenging environment with walking, bending, and lifting; therefore, must be able to safely work within heavy physical demands. Knowledge of nursing clinical best practice standards/protocols and nursing practice fundamentals. Demonstrates respect and professionalism with staff, patients, families, and others. Ability to create an empowering work environment and supports knowledge transfer. Complies with Health Professions Act regulations and ensures continued competence. Possess clear and assertive communication skills and strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Demonstrates an awareness of accident and injury prevention; adheres to safe work practices and procedures and is responsible for maintaining self-wellness. An expectation is that the Registered Nurse will be in the charge role while effectively managing other responsibilities such as a patient assignment, discharge planning, and liaison with AHS and external agencies; therefore, preference will be given to those that are charge trained. Preferred Qualifications

Certification in care of PICC lines and/or blood draws from a PICC line as an asset. Experience in the care of medical patients is of benefit. Connect Care and CoAct/CareHub experience preferred.
