This Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (MRI Tech I) position performs quality MRI imaging in the busy and dynamic Diagnostic Imaging Department at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Close collaboration with technical staff, nursing, patients, physicians, supervisor and management is required.
As a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist I, you will produce and record magnetic resonance images for interpretation by a Radiologist or Cardiologist for the purpose of diagnosis and tracking of disease and pathology. You will produce high quality diagnostic MRI images as ordered by a Physician, prepare and position patients for examination, review patient history, explain procedures, respond to the physical and psychological needs of patients throughout the scanning procedure, and maintain MRI equipment.

Completion of diploma from an accredited Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program required or completion of certificate from an accredited MRI Technologist program plus a diploma from an accredited Program in Medical Radiology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Ultrasound), Nuclear Medicine or Radiation Therapy. Active or eligible for registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP).
An MRI Technologist with strong technical knowledge and skills is required. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude and strong work ethic, as well as proficient organizational, technical, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills. Must perform well under pressure, including in emergency situations. They will consistently demonstrate tact, courtesy, and professionalism when interacting with radiologists, patients, students, leadership, physicians, and AHS staff. Previous experience as MRI Tech I in a hospital setting is preferred. Connect Care and Provincial Enterprise Imaging (PEI) proficiency an asset. Demonstrated participation in AHS Diagnostic Imaging Quality program/Peervue. Experience and aptitude in mentoring students an asset.
