Your Opportunity

The role of an Senior Structural CAD Technician / Technologist is to work as a team member on small and large projects under close guidance and supervision. Work will include performing a variety of drafting tasks related to civil structures such as bridges, culverts, and retaining walls.

Your Key Responsibilities

Using your knowledge of drafting practices and CAD platforms, you will work closely with other CAD Technician/Technologists, engineers, and senior designers to complete the following tasks:

Develop 2D and 3D CAD design models.

Develop CAD preliminary design and construction drawings following CAD standards.

Complete design redline markups and ensure reviewer comments received are corrected and addressed.

Perform thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance, discipline coordination.

Performing quantity take-offs.

Performing shop drawing reviews.

Plotting final drawing packages for submissions.

Preform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Will work closely with engineers, senior designers, and other CAD operators on assigned projects.

Mentoring junior staff members.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

Proficiency in software programs AutoCAD and Civil3D.

Proficiency in Bentley products, Microstation, InRoads, OpenROADS, OpenBridge would be a desirable asset.

Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations.

Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and Bluebeam would be a desirable asset.

Understanding bridge, culvert, retaining wall design principles and concepts would be a desirable asset.

Ability to work with others on routine and complex tasks and projects.

Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation.

Ability to understand and maintain CAD standards.

Participates in interdisciplinary coordination.

Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.

Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

Education and Experience

• Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 10 years of experience. This is a senior position

Typical office environment working with computers at a desk. Some field visits or site observations may be required but will not be considered part of the primary job function and is mostly for educational purposes.
