General Labour / Afternoon Shifts (Full-time)
City of Edmonton
Completion of Grade 10 High School Diploma is preferred
~1 year labour experience including maintenance landscaping concrete work or groundskeeping duties in cemeteries parks or a similar work environment
Assets:
Previous customer service experience in a field operations setting
Knowledge of cemetery interment procedures and of various cultural/religious beliefs and traditions
Heavy Equipment Certificates/working knowledge (Skid Steer Backhoe etc)
Demonstrated ability to interact with the public in a professional manner especially in sensitive situations
Physically able to perform the assigned tasks and duties of the position including manual labour and the use of simple hand/or power tools and light motor vehicles for long periods of time in various weather and environmental conditions
Excellent communication interpersonal customer service organization time management and prioritization skills required

Valid Class 5 drivers license (or provincial equivalent). 1 permanent full-time position
Sunday to Saturday which includes a monthly weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) rotation.
The primary schedule is Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30pm. Evening and weekend work will be required to support operational needs.
Salary : $24.935 - $33.208 Hourly
As a Labourer II you will ensure proper maintenance and beautification of municipal cemeteries and traditional burial grounds while providing exceptional customer service to patrons and guests.
Your ability to work with minimal supervision in a changing sensitive environment will contribute to the success of City service delivery and operational goals.
Interact with the public in a professional manner especially in sensitive situations
Dig and locate graves make frames mix concrete and install stones
Read surveyed grades and design blueprints ensuring accurate locating of construction points
Construct forms mix concrete install grave markers and fine finish edges around grave markers
Locate grave locations without clear reference points in surveyed and unsurveyed cemeteries
