Social Worker - Safeguarding

The Social Worker II provides a range of generalist Social Work services to patients and their families within the established standards, directives and policies for the work environment. These services are primarily clinical in nature and involve: comprehensive psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, risk screening, and counselling. Case management will include collaboration and coordination with medical staff, inter-professional team members and community agencies, and requires the ability to work independently with occasional review, consultation and evaluation from Unit Supervisor/Manager or manager designate. The Social Worker II must work independently, exercise a high degree of professional judgement and integrity and must be able to work effectively as part of an inter-professional team and commit to strengthening team dynamics by actively facilitating inter-professional collaboration to enhance patient health outcomes. All duties carried out by the Social Worker II are consistent with the policies and procedures of Covenant Health and guided by Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision and Values. This position is currently assigned to Women's Health.

Description: The Social Worker II (SW) provides services to clients and families including psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention, education, treatment, advocacy, resource finding, consultation, and discharge planning. The SW II is responsible for the provision of services in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the HSAA Paramedical Professional/Technical Collective Agreement.

Vehicle Requirement: Not Applicable Required Qualifications: Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Social Work required. Active registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) required. Additional Required Qualifications: Must have experience in case management. Must be able to work weekend on-call shifts in addition to regular rotation. Must be comfortable with apprehensions of newborns, stillbirths, mental health assessments and interventions, domestic violence, addictions, and rapid assessments and discharges. Preferred Qualifications: Current or previous experience in acute care, Women's Health, Mental Health, and Child Protections is an asset.
