Centennial Outdoor Pool – Summer Employment
Are you looking for an exciting summer job with an opportunity to work with a great team and get out in the sun? Are you looking to expand your knowledge of pool operations? Then work for the City of Campbell River at our outdoor pool as an auxiliary Lifeguard for our summer season.
We are a 45-minute drive from the winter and summer activities of Mount Washington, and just minutes from more than 100 km of all levels of mountain biking and hiking trails, plus easy access to the ocean, rivers and lakes for sports fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding and whale watching.
In this auxiliary role, as a lifeguard you will instruct and monitor participants at the Centennial Park outdoor pool, as well as maintain the facility to ensure that everyone is safe. It is critical that you can respond calmly in emergency situations and recognize when lifeguard interventions are required.
The rate of pay for this CUPE bargaining unit position is $27.84 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits (this is equivalent to a wage of $31.18 per hour). The successful candidate will also have access to a reduced cost Employee Wellness Pass for Recreation facilities and programs.
Season: The season for these short-term auxiliary roles typically starts in the middle of June and ends in late August.
Have one (1) year of experience as a lifeguard and/or lesson instructor or an assessable equivalent.
Possess and maintain valid National Lifeguard (NL) certification.
Be 16 years or older as legislated by the Public Health Act, Pool Regulations .
Must successfully attain a clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to employment.
