Thermex Metal Treating Ltd. is in need of Heat-Treating Operator - Metal Processing
Employment Terms: Full Time - Permanent
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, or tend heating equipment such as internal quench and pit-style furnaces, control and monitoring of endothermic and inert furnace atmospheres, control and operation of endothermic generators, quenching parts safely into a variety of quench media etc.
- Determine furnace temperatures, current frequencies, heating cycles, atmospheres. and induction heating coils needed, based on degree of hardness required and properties of stock to be treated.
- Determine types and temperatures of baths and quenching media needed to attain specified part hardness, toughness, and ductility, using heat-treating charts and knowledge of methods, equipment, and metals.
- Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials and gauges of furnaces, to make setting determinations.
- Examine parts to ensure proper processing and that parts conform to specifications, using knowledge of metal heat-treating, and perform appropriate hardness and other quality tests.
- Proper use of computer charting and data logging, and job software system.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor troubleshooting on equipment
- Perform basic shop cleaning and maintenance
Working Hours: 8 hours/day, 3 shifts per day (Morning: 06:00am-14:30pm; Afternoon: 14:00pm-22:30pm; Evening: 22:00pm-06:30am) with 2 varied days off per week; OR a 4 on-4 off schedule, 12 hours per day, 6:00am to 6:00pm or 6:00pm to 6:00am.

Employment Requirements:
- Education: Completion of secondary school is required
- Work Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in a commercial heat-treating shop, working with atmosphere hardening furnaces for quench & temper, carburizing, stress relieving.
- Added experience with nitriding and / or induction hardening would be very beneficial.
- Must be familiar with furnace operation and hardness testing.
- Physically fit and able to handle an industrial shop environment and working conditions.
