Day Care Worker A

This is a casual position.

Child Development and Care:
Facilitate the development and behaviour of children.
Use a variety of observation and documentation techniques.
Facilitate cognitive language social emotional creative and physical development of children and acceptance of diversity.
Implement inclusion policy.
Support the holistic development of all children.
Build meaningful relationships with the children. Identify and expand upon learning opportunities (teachable moments). Identify and support childs individual learning and development. Identify and support diversity equity and inclusion.
Maintain documentation of childs development.
Develop and implement safe travelling and off-site practices while provide adequate supervision during these times. Identify and report suspected cases of child abuse and neglect.
Promote a healthy lifestyle and actively supervise children.
Promote healthy eating and proper food serving techniques. Establish with colleagues an environment to foster positive behaviour in the program.
Guide and observe children. Facilitate appropriate language conflict resolution empathy problem-solving skills and coping skills.
Protect children from physical and emotional harm.

Equipment & Facilities:
Adapt programming and equipment to unique settings and situations.
Operate and maintain facilities.
Maintain equipment materials and furnishings.
Maintain indoor and outdoor physical environment.
Monitor cleanliness and sanitation of all areas used by children as per policy and guidelines.
Family and Community Relations :
Use Community resources.
Access and engage community resources facilities and services.
Raise awareness of community events.
Advocate for children and families.
Make connections between families and resources and respect the rights of the child.
Collaborate with parents to identify strengths needs and interests of the child.
Collaboratively develop and implement inclusion plans with other professionals and parents.

Create partnerships with colleagues participate in meetings liaise with stakeholders demonstrate leadership and follow policies and procedures.
Support and guide colleagues and students. Personal and Professional Development
Follow policies and procedures.
Maintain physical health and mental well-being.
Network with peers.
Record medical procedures and the administration of medication.
Record facility maintenance and safety checks.
Complete childs daily log for parents.
Work schedule will be 8 (eight) working hours a day Monday to Friday for full-time employees.
A flexible time schedule will be required.
A detailed list of expectations will be presented as part of the hiring process and will be used as a performance management tool on an on-going basis.
Province of New Brunswick Early Childhood Services Act and Regulations as they pertain to the Act.
Province of NB Operator Manual for Full-time and Part-time Early Learning and Childcare Centres.
The Child Victims of Abuse Protocols of the Province of New Brunswick.
Small Blessings Inclusion Policy (included in Employee Handbook).
Staff members volunteers children in the program.
External: Parents and guardians of the kids agencies.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

Minor level of material responsibilities (proper use and safekeeping of toys equipment etc.). Uses or maintains organization assets in accordance with established guidelines. The performance of the job requires frequently lifting/moving equipment and children room set-up moderate amount of teaching leading etc. Occasional computer work Cleaning the facility and putting up wall displays. Shifts and outside work. The incumbent may have little to no travel required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Qualifications and Certifications: Completion of a formal post-secondary/college Diploma program of at least one full academic year in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution or equivalent. A Criminal record check and Social Development check must be completed prior to hiring and subsequently every 3 years. The Salvation Army Armatus abuse training must be completed immediately upon hiring. Must complete the mandatory New Brunswick curriculum training outline by the NB Curriculum Framework document. Demonstrates an active interest and attitude suitable for working with large groups of children. Must have a workable concept of childcare centres. Ability to put children at ease and create a warm and friendly environment in which a child can develop fully. Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
