This is a mobile outreach recovery support position that works with clients who struggle with substance abuse issues particularly those with opiate addictions. The worker collaborates and is guided by LWDH Mental Health & Addiction Social Workers. The Recovery Support Worker assists residents throughout the withdrawal stage and/or stabilization period and provides support services for the effective functioning of the facility.

Diploma in addictions or social services or appropriate combination of relevant education and life-work experiences. Lesser academic qualifications will be considered if they have completed CAMH Addiction courses (ie. Current criminal/vulnerable persons record check
Current certification in CPR, First Aid, WHMIS, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention(CPI) is an asset as a prerequisite, will be required to attain if not already certified
Valid G class driver’s license (with clean driver’s abstract) and use of own vehicle is required as well as ability to travel
Basic counselling and screening skills; Personal experience and/or understanding of Anishinabek culture, values, and healing practices
Demonstrated understanding of holistic health and well-being; personal experience and/or strong knowledge of the healing journey and abstinence of mind altering chemicals
Good knowledge of available resources and experience working with at risk individuals and families is an asset
