Job Posting - BI Engineer

The BI Engineer is a technical leader in our Data & Analytics commercial data engineering team. Responsibilities include designing, building, optimizing, and maintaining experiments, prototypes and products across Four Seasons Microsoft Azure's Data Platform and PowerBI.

The Engineer will be a valued member of an internal Data Engineering capability working together to discover to define requirements, use cases and outcomes.

The candidate is capable of working with all levels of the organization with an ability to understand and translate institutional knowledge into technical solutions. This role is based in Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Toronto Corporate Office, reporting to the Manager, BI Engineering. This role involves interactions with internal executive stakeholders , project sponsors, technical operations and development teams, Four Seasons IT, end-user contracts, and product users. Externally, the role will interact with various Four Seasons partners and data solution providers, Microsoft, and source data providers.

BI Engineering:

As an excellent communicator and facilitator, you will interview users and pull business needs and translate requirements to represent report functionalities

Design complex and interactive reports in Power BI to act like sophisticated applications with interactive visuals to service data while using DAX as needed

Develop complex and high performing query to retrieve data from the data warehouse. Design and develop complex, high-performance queries to retrieve and manipulate data from the data warehouse

Work with business users and rapidly proto-typing reports to involve end-user inputs and feedback. Collaborate with business users to rapidly prototype and refine reports, ensuring their alignment with end-user needs.

Develop, and support analytical databases in a tabular model, including features for data access and data security. Develop and support tabular models and analytical databases, focusing on performance, security, and accessibility.

Partner with Data Engineers, work collaboratively to develop and enhance of ETL workflow in Azure

In collaboration with data architect, work collaboratively to design data architecture and data modeling. Collaborate with Data Architects to design and implement data models that support business needs.

Automate continuous build and deployment of data mart, ETL workflow and reports

Work closely with business analysts, SMEs on project and production support to troubleshoot and debug issues

Thinking creatively to design solutions, addressing both business and technical aspects, with a forward-thinking approach to best accommodate future opportunities

Collaborate with cross functional team to understand business issues and identify opportunities to turn data into business insights using reporting tools or other self-service analytics

Acts as BI SME for all BI consumers to provide technical support of tools and technical architecture. Provide technical support and guidance to BI consumers across the organization.

Participate to convert legacy reporting platform into future state data and analytics platform

Initiate knowledge dissemination of design, coding, and analysis techniques with other team members in collaborative manner

Monitors system performance, implements changes to optimize performance

Incorporate operational risk and systems performance management in all initiatives

Design and develop Tabular models in AAS and Power BI, with expertise in Dimensional models and DAX language as needed.

Identifies opportunities for new architectural initiatives makes recommendations on the increasing scalability and robustness of platforms and solutions.

Ability to work on several un-related projects concurrently

BI Engineering in Microsoft Azure Environment + Toolsets Expertise in Microsoft Azure BI stack (ADLS, ADF, Synapse, AAS, PowerBI, Cosmos DB, FunctionApps, Logic Apps etc)

Strong knowledge in DAX language

Expert knowledge in understanding, writing, troubleshoot, enhance, optimize the complex sql statements, stored procedures, functions and other database components.

Skilled in core data warehousing platforms

Microsoft Power BI delivery and support

Data process improvement

Working in large data sets

Microsoft Visio

Microsoft Office Suite, very strong Excel

5+ years of IT industry experience with the data related projects.

• Minimum 4+ years of experience in data modeling, datawarehouse design and development, reports, dashboards development and migration related projects.
• 2-3 years' experience in Visualization and Analytics within Azure environments using Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, Azure Data Lake, Synapse Analytics, Analysis Services and Power BI
• Very good understanding of data warehousing concepts, data modeling concepts, performance improvement.
• Desired to have 1-2 years' experience in AI/ML projects and implementations
• University or higher degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, Computer Science or Technology.

This role will be a Hybrid working model, which will require 3 days per week in the Four Seasons Corporate Office located at 1165 Leslie Street, Toronto, Ontario #LI-Hybrid
