Cost Accountant - Manufacturing Sector
MacDonald Search Group has been asked by our manufacturing client to find a first-class Plant Cost Accountant to join their team in Rexdale, Ontario (in-office). The primary responsibility of this role will be to oversee plant-level cost accounting, inventory valuation, and financial reporting to support operational decision-making and ensure strong financial controls.
This posting fills a current vacancy and the salary band before bonus is $70,000 - $90,000
Role is on site in Toronto West (427 & 401 area)
Maintain and update standard costs for materials, labour, and overhead while analyzing variances against actual results
- Oversee inventory accuracy including counts, valuation, reconciliations, and ERP data integrity
- Lead month-end activities including accruals, reconciliations, journal entries, and plant-level reporting
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, providing detailed cost analysis to plant leadership
- Partner with operations and supply chain teams to drive cost efficiency, capital analysis, and continuous improvement
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred)
- 3-5 years of cost accounting or plant finance experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, inventory controls, and GAAP
- Advanced Excel capability and experience working with ERP systems and reporting tools
