Community Support Worker (Part Time)

The Community Support Worker supports the capacity of schools as hubs within communities to strategically gather and deploy school-community services and resources in ways that attain better outcomes for students, families and surrounding neighborhoods. Increase family, community and student engagement

facilitate and/or coordinate workshops or support to groups, parenting skills and other student needs;

Support families of students who have attendance issues;

refer and/or facilitate learners access to resources in the community, social services, professional services and government programs;

Create and/or facilitate programs to support well-being and success;

participate in networking and coalition building with teachers and the wider community;

Dedication to anti-racism, equity, and diversity;

Proven commitment to Truth and Reconciliation;

Post-secondary education in an area of study related to human services is an asset;

Experience working with adults would be an asset, ex. Experience applying computer/technology skills;

Ability to produce proposals, reports, using data;

Experience working with Indigenous and non-Indigenous groups is required;

An understanding of “The Land, The People, and The Stories” in the context of working with Indigenous families

Experience working with the students, families and communities of the Winnipeg School Division is preferred;

Knowledge of child development an asset;

Ability to collaborate with school staff and provide support;
