Efficient operation of boilers and chillers (operation of biofuel system if in Truro location) for maximum performance
Provides ongoing monitoring of Thermal Plant systems and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency (ie. boilers, chillers, diesel generator, electrical transformer, controls, etc.)
Performs maintenance on Thermal Plant systems and equipment to ensure continuous operation
Maintains a clean work environment in the thermal plant
Performs water treatment control duties, as required
Completes daily log book entries on each shift as required
Completes daily, weekly and monthly inspection sheets, as directed
Energy management through Metasys/Rockwell Plant Controls as required and directed
Will provide relief coverage for the regular shift operators in addition to their own regularly scheduled operating and maintenance shifts to make up their full-time hours
Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer’s certificate (standardized) recognized by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour or equivalent
Knowledge and understanding of computer control systems including Johnson Controls Metasys and the Digital Control System (DCS) (burner management system and boiler modulating system) of boiler controls
Knowledge and understanding of computer use and various programs
Ability to take direction and be flexible in working hours
Must be willing and able to work shifts, rotating shifts and overtime, as required
General safety and WHMIS training an asset
Must be capable of working alone
