Job Summary

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Culture Programs, support the development, coordination, and promotion of high-quality Culture programs and services in performing arts delivered at a variety of art centres, community centres and historical sites across Mississauga.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Work within a programming team to plan, develop and implement Culture Programs including but not limited to evening and weekend courses, camps and weekday school programs.
• Provide customer service, resolve issues and communicate changes/cancellations of programs.
• Under the direction of the Supervisor, assist with functional guidance of part-time staff, including evaluations, scheduling, hiring/contracting and training and support with participant behaviour management.
• Manage volunteer, co-op and intern recruitment, training and assist with functional guidance.
• Assist with regular program visits, High Five® Quest 2 program evaluations, program planning and support material development.
• Assist with the development, design and delivery of performing arts programs and camps.
• Assist by liaising with facility staff to ensure spaces are prepared, safe and operational.
• Assist Supervisor with responding to ad-hoc programming requests including workshops, special events and outreach initiatives.
• Provide administrative support including but not limited to part time payroll, program outline review, class lists, program hand-outs and program entry in ActiveNet Recreation Management Software.
• Responsible for maintaining inventory including supply delivery, tracking, and equipment.
• Support the execution of team initiatives including but not limited to annual dance recital events, and competitive dance program.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

• Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Performing Arts, Arts Administration, Education or related field with a minimum of 3 years’ related experience in an arts education setting.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the development, design and delivery of performing arts programs and camps.
• Attention to detail in emergency situations.
• Ability to provide instructional fill-in and break coverage on an as needed basis across a variety of arts programs will be required.
• Highly motivated self-starter; excellent oral and written communication skills; team player; ability to work in a changing environment.
• Formal training or additional certifications outside of a post-secondary degree/diploma in dance, music or theatre, is an asset.
• Proficient use of R3/SAP, SharePoint, Microsoft Office and ActiveNet software is an asset.
• Experience with the Ontario Curriculum (K-Gr 12) is an asset.
• Standard First-Aid, CPR "C" certification.
• High Five® Principles of Healthy Childhood Development and Quest 2 certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Screening that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.
• Must be able to work flexible and varying hours, including evenings and weekends as per business needs.
• Ability to travel between multiple recreation and culture sites within the city for time-sensitive work-related travel.
