Do you have what it takes to perform trades tasks and a wide variety of facility maintenance and construction duties? Given this position works with inmate helpers, a shift premium will be added to every pay.
The hours of work are up to 40 hours per week, including weekends and statutory holidays, based on operational requirements and with no guaranteed hours.
Working as part of a small maintenance team at the Sarnia Jail, you will enjoy a variety of tasks as well as a flexible work schedule. Assist skilled tradespeople with a variety of maintenance and repair duties in carpentry, masonry, and HVAC areas
Build and install partitions, renovating, repairing furniture, windows, brick and plaster surfaces
Paint, maintain, and inspect equipment and installations
Assist Ministry or private contract personnel in major structural repairs or alterations
Maintain Ministry and government requirements for correctional facility security
Maintain work order and preventative maintenance logs
Perform routine and preventative maintenance
Maintenance Knowledge and Experience
You have extensive knowledge and experience performing a wide range of general maintenance and trades work
You have demonstrated ability to follow workplace policies and protocols in order to ensure a safe and secure work area
You have problem-solving skills to recognize hazards, address maintenance issues, and complete assigned work on time
