We are seeking qualified individuals to train for a career as a Natural Gas Maintenance Person.
This 4-year apprenticeship program includes on-the-job training and 10 weeks of competency-based classroom training that
prepares you for a career as a Natural Gas Maintenance person. Natural Gas Maintenance Persons maintain, repair, abandon,
modify and inspect the natural gas distribution and transmission system including pipelines, meter installations, pressure control
installations and related facilities.
As a Natural Gas Maintenance Trainee, you will:
Assist in the installation, construction, repair, maintenance and abandonment of natural gas pipelines and related facilities by
power excavation equipment (e.g., and pipeline stopping and tapping equipment in a safe and
Demonstrate knowledge in the installation, operation and maintenance of natural gas measurement, pressure control, and

energy isolation devices.

Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of cathodic protection systems.
Work in a variety of settings in all weather conditions and working conditions both inside and outside such as domestic

dwellings, commercial buildings, public property, streets, open fields and in excavations.
As part of your training, you will be required to obtain a Utility Gas Fitter's Licence by completing the Manitoba Department of Labour
Natural Gas Maintenance Persons need to continuously upgrade their skills and knowledge to
High school graduate.
Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence and be capable of obtaining a Class 3 with air endorsement.
