Position Title Survey Technician II
Classification Summary - Union A Survey Technician II conducts preliminary construction and topographical surveys, processes collected field data, generates design data for construction layout, creates 3D surfaces, base plans, and record drawings.
Operates survey equipment, including GPS, total stations and manual levels, ensuring accurate, timely and high-quality survey results.
Provides technical calculations and survey data to determine precise locations and measurements of points, elevations, grades and levels, areas and contours for design and construction, confirmation of property lines or other municipal purposes.
Processes collected field data to ensure quality survey.
Identifies any design/construction conflicts or potential errors and brings then to the attention of the Survey Coordinator, Foreman and/or Project Manager.
Generates 3D surfaces, design base plans, design data for construction layout and other survey requests in AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
Updates and assists in preparation record drawings, applying knowledge of engineering standards and AutoCAD/Civil 3D design software.
Complies with Work Safe BC rules and regulations, and the City’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Performs Flagging duties as necessary to ensure safety of crew. Maintains compliance with the Traffic Control Manual.
Maintains and recommends servicing all types of survey equipment and tools, to ensure accuracies are maintained.
Two-year Diploma in Civil Technology or Survey (Geomatics) Technology
BC Driver’s License – Class 5
Computer Literacy
