The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. As a result of a maternity leave at RVH, we are hiring a Temporary Part-Time Registered Nurse with our Emergency Department.

Pay Grid: $41.15 - $57.68/hourly

Working as a member of the clinical team and under the direction of the Unit Nurse Manager or RVH Coordinators, the incumbent provides and supports patient care delivery. The Registered Nurse has the knowledge, skills and judgment needed to provide competent, evidence-based nursing practice

• The Registered Nurse shall be responsible for meeting the standards and exercising judgment for providing safe, competent and ethical nursing care as outlined in the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Nursing Practice and Guidelines for Ethical Behaviour and the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Policies, Procedures and Protocols, and the standards of care appropriate to his/her area of clinical practice.
• The Registered Nurse creates and strengthens an environment conducive to professional and personal growth.
• The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in collaboration with the patient, significant others, and the multidisciplinary team.
• The Registered Nurse shall be responsible for establishing a patient care plan based on biophysical and spiritual needs assessment and integrating the other health professionals’ recommendations.
• Consistent with the philosophy of RVH, the Registered Nurse shall involve patients, and their families in assisting them to understand the plan of care and in facilitating choice among care options so that care is individualized according to each patient’s needs. The Nurse also solicits patient and family input to evaluate their own care and to improve care for all patients.

Minimum two years recent Emergency Room experience essential.

• Knowledge of and working experience with CTAS.
• Current competence in cardiac monitoring skills.
• Trauma Care or Emergency Nursing Course preferred.
• Extensive experience with health assessment.
• Computer skills, an asset.
• Demonstrates effective use of a computer for EHR documentation purposes.
