Construction Carpenter (Full-time)

The Opportunity RVS invites applications for a, full-time (40 hrs/wk) Journeyperson Carpenter position at the Education Centre located in Airdrie, Alberta starting immediately. The successful candidate will require a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License. The Journeyperson Carpenter shall abide by the "Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act".

Maintains knowledge of all materials relating to the carpentry trade and seeks out information on new materials that may be appropriate for use in school buildings

Prepares reports, schedules surveys or recommendations as requested

Procures materials in a cost-effective manner

Provides input on new construction/renovation plans as requested

Erects scaffolding as required

Provides training for carpenter apprentices

Journeyman Carpenters certificate

Previous experience with a school division or public sector employer is considered an asset

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications

Knowledge of window and door hardware installation and repair

Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision

Knowledge of the Albert Building code
