Accountant CPA (REMOTE)

Intermediate Accountant (Contract)$35/hour

2 Month Contract (May 5 – July 3)

Hays Specialist Recruitment is partnering with a trusted not‑for‑profit technology organization (confidential) that supports collaboration across British Columbia’s research and education sectors. They are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to support the finance team during overlapping staff time off.
This is a well‑defined, short‑term contract ideal for an experienced accountant who can step in quickly, work independently, and contribute with minimal ramp‑up. The organization offers a flexible, respectful work environment and is fully open to hybrid or fully remote work.
Process accounts payable invoices and payments using Tipalti, including allocation of prepaid expenses and capital asset additions
Monitor and respond to finance inbox inquiries in a timely manner (within two business days), escalating issues as needed
Post bank transactions and routine monthly adjusting journal entries
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations with strong attention to accuracy
Support ad‑hoc accounting projects and finance initiatives as required
2–3 years of intermediate‑level accounting experience (not entry‑level)

• Strong hands‑on experience across full AP processes and general ledger activities
• Solid professional judgment and ability to work independently
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA
