Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Research Operations the Research Administrator Grants and Awards provides administrative support on grant applications to help advance the facultys research mission. This position is responsible for identifying funding opportunities supporting new and existing SEAMO faculty members and research teams and facilitates the research funding administration process to enhance the submission and overall success rate of funded projects within QHS. The Research Administrator Grants and Awards works closely with the Research Projects Advisor and QHS staff to strengthen the quality and competitiveness of their research proposals contributing to the growth and impact of QHSs research portfolio.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers the grant application process for QHS researchers ensuring all applications are completed within application deadlines.
Provides support for navigating the funding application system(s).
Provides administrative support for research awards notice of awards and institutional signatures for award applications.
Ensures researchers have completed all compliance documentation in keeping with funding policies and processes (internal and external) and flagging compliance issues and/or risks.
Acts as the first point of contact for the department and frontline resource and contact person for senior staff.
Provides information and guidance to university and faculty researchers on navigating the research funding process general policies and procedures pertaining to research funding external regulations and compliance issues.
Provides administrative support for the mentorship program and internal funding opportunities.
Provides administrative support for the formation of new research teams or groups around identified funding opportunities.
Liaises with researchers ethics office other department personnel representatives of other institutions and funding agency staff related to award applications.
Consults with staff regarding changes to the applications and escalates difficult or problematic issues.
Assists in facilitating a variety of workshops training sessions information events and programs aimed at increasing the success rate of applications and funded projects for QHS.
Provides review status reports as requested.
Keep abreast of faculty research strengths and expertise.
Other duties as required in support of the department and/or unit.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three-year Community College Diploma or Three-Year Bachelor Degree or equivalent.
3 to 5 years of relevant experience preferably experience in preparing competitive research funding applications.
Experience advising senior researchers and providing feedback to faculty members regarding funding proposals and academic writing considered an asset.
Knowledge of policies procedures and regulatory structures related to research funding particularly with respect to Tri-agency funded research considered an asset.
Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to understand interpret communicate and apply funding agency rules and guidelines.

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word Excel etc.) proficient in the use of webinar and teleconferencing technologies.

Ensure appropriate documentation is created and maintained to meet all QHS Research university and funding agency requirements.
Prioritize and distribute work to deliver objectives on time and to the highest standard.
Manage own work and may train and review the work of casual employees work study students and/or volunteers to see commitments through to completion.
Anticipate complex challenges and assess priorities to ensure activities are completed on time.
Contribute to setting work priorities and direction supporting the team in achieving goals and objectives.
Participate in project team meetings and develop individual project plans.
Lead procedural or technological change within a unit.
Ability to identify new problems and seek information and input to fully understand the cause of problems.
