Clean assigned areas such as, but not limited to, windows/sills, baseboards, desks, tables, chairs, walls, all floors and rugs, beds, stairs, and washroom utilities.
Clean private rooms as per weekly schedule.
Laundry duties: DO NOT MIX RESIDENTS LAUNDRY. do laundry for the Centre – sheets, pillow cases, and towels.
Use cleaning supplies wisely – DO NOT WASTE.
Use all supplies and materials safely, and perform all duties in a safe manner.
After each shift, return any equipment used and wash and hang up mops.
Be polite and courteous to residents, but do not fraternize.
Grade 12 graduate
Minimum of 2 years housekeeping or related experience
Knowledge of chemicals (WHIMIS training)
Work with minimal supervision
More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience, including life skills, and general familiarity with cleaning and maintenance procedures.
The performance of the job requires operating industrial cleaning equipment and tools, mopping and sweeping, bending/twisting/lifting, occasional ladder work and fine motor skills.
The performance of the job requires moderate to high attention when using motorized equipment, handling hazardous chemicals and using non-motorized/general cleaning equipment.
Participate fully and constructively in staff meetings and in-service training
Read, follow, and suggest improvements to the Centre Policy and Procedures Manual
Maintain resident, staff, and The Salvation Army Waterston Centre confidentiality.
The incumbent’s work environment is typically in the entire facility and surrounding property designated.

Target start rate for this position is $16.97 per hour
