Quality Analysis Engineer H/F

The Quality and Fibre Engineer ensures high fibre quality and yield while driving unbleached kraft product improvement. The role interacts with all departments across the pulp mill and reports to the Process Engineering Superintendent. This position collaborates closely with operations, leads quality investigations, manages customer complaints, and advances continuous improvement initiatives to help the mill deliver reliable, high-quality products.

Fibre Supply, Quality & Yield Optimization

Monitor and maintain chip-quality objectives; assess how chip characteristics influence fibreline performance and final product quality.

Optimize fibre-supply and chip-handling strategies to improve quality and yield in collaboration with the Fibre Manager and the Fibre & Site Services Superintendent.

Lead vendor corrective actions for chip-supply quality issues, ensuring timely resolution and long-term improvement.

Quality Management

Track, analyze, and improve key quality metrics for unbleached kraft pulp using Lean/Six Sigma tools to reduce variability, and improve customer satisfaction.

Create, maintain and improve quality-related SOPs, ensuring alignment with best practices.

Serve as a technical resource for customer quality concerns, providing clear communication and support.

Lead customer complaint investigations, including data/root cause analysis, mill audits, and cross-functional problem solving.

Prepare concise technical reports and communicate findings and corrective actions to customers and internal teams.

Provide proactive insights to commercial and operations teams realted to customer performance and product expectations.

Product Development & Technical Support

Support development of new pulp grades, product enhancements, and application-specific performance improvements.

Plan and execute mill trials focused on quality and performance validation, including sampling and data analysis. Partner with sales and marketing teams to provide technical expertise for customer visits and market development activities.

A strong candidate is curious, data-driven, and comfortable working across the mill floor, laboratory, and customer environments. They enjoy solving complex process problems, improving product performance, and helping the mill deliver reliable, high-quality pulp every day.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pulp & Paper Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 2 - 5 years' experience in kraft pulping, fibreline operations, or pulp quality management preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience interpreting complex process and customer data.
• Effective communicator with strong technical writing and customer-facing skills.
• Experience with quality systems and technical customer service.
• Experience with Lean/Six Sigma, SPC, or other continuous-improvement methodologies is an asset.
• Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g. PI, Power BI, Minitab) is an asset.
