Fortis Mining, Engineering, & Manufacturing is growing, and we're on the lookout for a passionate, detail-driven Purchaser , whose primary responsibility is acquiring goods, materials, and other required products to support company operations and fulfill customer work requirements. What You’ll Be Doing
Identify potential suppliers, research products, and source appropriate materials to achieve optimal quality, pricing, and efficiency
Source and obtain pricing through online platforms, direct supplier quotes, contract pricing, and catalogues
Request and evaluate multiple quotes and issue purchase orders to ensure requirements for price, lead-time, quantity, and quality are met
Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure best overall value where applicable
Build and maintain positive supplier relationships to ensure consistent supply, quality service, and reliable delivery
Troubleshoot and locate parts, supplies, materials, and other components as needed
Other Administrative Support
Maintain familiarity with shipping and receiving processes and provide coverage support when required
What You Bring to the Table
Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
Previous work experience in shipping and receiving or similar role would be an asset but not required
Previous work experience in steel manufacturing or mining industries would be considered an asset
Excellent computer and systems proficiency
Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook) is required
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
Strong time-management skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Ability to handle competing priorities simultaneously; work well under pressure with time-sensitive deadlines
Valid Driver’s license
Strong problem identification and resolution skills
Ability to use judgment and apply discretion when making decisions
Ability to understand and follow instructions
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Possess a positive and professional attitude, set a high standard, and convey professionalism at all times
Any valid safety-related training certificates would be considered an asset (i.e., WHMIS, fall protection, etc.)
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
