General Laborer/ Maintenance Assistant

The District of West Vancouver’s Engineering Construction Department currently have an opening for a temporary full-time Labourer to join our Roads team. These tasks can include:
- Street road maintenance – ditching, slashing, and sidewalk repairs;
- Road pavement maintenance and repair – assisting with installation of hot mix asphalt for utility patches and potholes.
- Assisting with traffic control – with a valid TCP certification
- Winter operation maintenance – salting, brining and snow plowing streets and sidewalks
- such as, weed eaters, pole pruners, chain saw, shovels, pipe saws, plate tamper, etc.;
- provide manual labourer assistance on various tasks and assignments; cleaning trucks and equipment as needed;
- use a variety of tools for general maintenance and construction work; work outdoors in a physically demanding role in all types of weather conditions.
Experience or training in road construction or maintenance; Landscaping experience (either hardscape or softscape installations);
Experience operating heavy equipment such as a mini excavator, bucket truck, skidsteer, backhoe, and front-end loader;
Candidate possessing the following is considered an asset:
Valid Class 1 or 3 BC Drivers License;
Experience as a Traffic Control Person (TCP);
