The Assistant Manager helps the Program Managers to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate the program policies, procedures, and practices. The Assistant Manager directs the daily operations of the program, and performs hiring, dismissal, discipline, and performance evaluation of the staff team. The successful candidate ensures that program mandate, principles, policies, and procedures are followed. The Assistant Manager promotes the interests of the participants and the program in the community and ensures that the program is maximally integrated and coordinated with other systems of care. The Assistant Manager replaces the Program Manager for absences such as vacation, illness, and leaves. The Assistant Manager is part of the leadership team and works closely with other managers, the RainCity operations team, and administrative staff. Assistant Manager

SALARY: $36.61 Hourly

General hours are Sunday – Wednesday 7:30AM – 4:00PM. with 30 minutes unpaid break. Participation in the After-Hours On-Call rotation becomes a mandatory condition of this assignment. This includes evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday coverage as scheduled. The standard requirement is participation in the on-call rotation three (3) to four (4) times per calendar year, or as otherwise assigned based on operational needs. As per Employment Standards, managers are excluded from the sections of the Act dealing with overtime entitlement.
~ A clear British Columbia Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check for working with vulnerable adults and/or children is a condition of employment with RainCity Housing. Applicants must be willing and able to receive a clearance under the Criminal Record Review Act.

Sechelt Shelter provides emergency shelter and supports to 20 individuals, 19 and over, who are experiencing homelessness on the Sunshine Coast. The shelter is staffed 24/7 with 2 community support workers. The shelter also provides drop-in services to folks who may be without a home and need supports, these supports include the Sunshine Coast’s only Overdose Prevention Site (OPS). We view the shelter as an opportunity to promote dignity, social justice, and increased citizenship for members of our community who come from a wide variety of backgrounds but who currently do not have a place to call home.
Training in supervisory and/or managerial functions.
Four (4) years of recent related experience with people living with mental health issues, substance use and/or are at risk of being homeless.
One (1) year in a supervisory, preferably managerial, capacity, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Class 5 driver’s license.
Plan and direct a supportive housing program.
Understand, interpret, explain, and apply municipal, provincial, and federal policy, law, regulation, and court decisions governing RainCity Housing’s community housing program.
Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive correspondence, emails, reports, studies, and other written materials.
Consult effectively with the senior leadership team to develop solutions to complex organizational and people management issues.
Exercise sound, expert independent judgment within policy guidelines.
An understanding of best practices associated with operating a supportive housing program and harm reduction practices.
Knowledge of Indigenous community and health resources.
Create and construct effective relationships with the neighbourhood to ensure the project is maximally integrated into the community.
Knowledge of the housing continuum, including market, subsidized and supported housing systems, including different program models.
Demonstrates understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically as related to women (trans and cis), sex workers, and Indigenous people and people living with a mental health and/or substance use issues.
