Manager of Engineering Design and Construction

This role provides technical leadership, ensures compliance with engineering standards and regulatory requirements, and oversees the full project lifecycle across engineering, CAD, manufacturing, supply chain, and sales. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert in solar PV mounting systems, structural design, and applicable codes, while driving continuous improvement in product design, processes, and delivery.
Engineering Leadership & Team Development
Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams supporting PV mounting systems and solar solutions.
Ensure Lead Engineers, Structural Leads, Design Leads, and Layout Leads follow our engineering processes, quality standards, and best practices.
Promote a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Technical Oversight & Design Excellence
Oversee engineering calculations and analyses, including FEA-based structural assessments.
Ensure designs meet all applicable local codes, regulatory requirements, UL standards, and industry best practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert for solar PV mounting codes and standards in regions where we operates.
Review and approve engineering documents prior to system release.
Project & Lifecycle Management
Establish and maintain project plans, including scope definition, risk identification, milestones, and execution oversight.
Manage the full project lifecycle, ensuring coordination between design, fabrication, and production, while maintaining budget and schedule targets.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date project status tracking systems.
CAD, Manufacturing & Supply Chain Coordination
Oversee CAD drawings and layouts for proposals and construction plan sets.
Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to release materials for production.
Work closely with Sales and Engineering teams to ensure client expectations are met.
Provide technical support and expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
Advise on project development processes, constructability, and installation methodologies.
Compliance, Quality & Safety
Ensure projects are designed and built in accordance with regulatory codes, quality standards, and engineering best practices.
Ensure compliance with all company policies, operational procedures, and Health & Safety programs.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Contribution
Identify and recommend improvements in product design, engineering processes, and deployment strategies.
Support long-term product roadmap and innovation initiatives.
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.

• 10-15+ years of progressive engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in a leadership or management role.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
• In-depth knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (CSA, UL, IBC/ASCE, local AHJs).
• Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.

Preferred / Asset
Experience in manufacturing-driven or product-based engineering environments.
Familiarity with CAD platforms (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
Experience working with third-party testing and certification bodies.
