Venture Capital Analyst and Controller Location Hybrid remote in Toronto, ON : Venture Capital Analyst and Controller GreenSky Ventures is a Toronto-based venture capital firm that invests in Canadian seed-stage technology companies. GreenSky has raised five successive funds and has been actively investing in the Canadian early-stage venture ecosystem since 2015. We are seeking a full-time Analyst and Controller to work in a hybrid capacity with GreenSky's diverse team. As an Analyst, this individual will be the most junior member of our five-person investment team. With plenty of room, including an expectation for growth and advancement, this is a unique opportunity for an early career accountant to pivot into the venture capital world.
Perform due diligence on early-stage tech companies, including developing, refining and analyzing financial forecasts, primary and secondary research, product and market analysis, and writing and editing full due diligence reports on findings. Participate in weekly team meetings to review new potential investments and discuss existing portfolio companies. Internal Controller. Manage investment fund accounting such as performance calculations, distributions to a broad investor base, forecasting fund expenses, and calculating deployment of capital across multiple venture capital funds.
Along with the two main duties outlined above, the candidate will represent the company at industry events, offer insights on prospective investments, build relationships with entrepreneurs for prospective investments, and source investors.
Accounting experience, ideally one to three years experience in audit or as a staff accountant. Demonstrated fluency in the language of accounting is a condition precedent for this position.
Demonstrated interest in, or experience with, technology, software, and/or engineering
Demonstrated writing skills
Bachelors or Masters Degree in Accounting
The position will start in January.
