Teaching Assistant (Kindergarten) (temporary)

Position: Educational Assistant
Contract Type: Temporary 1.00 FTE; Full Time (approximately 30 hours per week)
Friday: 8:15 AM to 11:35 AM (Staff will be required to stay longer when training is being held)
Duration of Position: Immediately - June 26, 2026
We are seeking applications for a mainstream Educational Assistant to work with students from grades 1-6 to prepare them for the grades ahead. This is a temporary full-time contract beginning immediately to June 26, 2026.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL: Eastbrook Elementary School is a dynamic and diverse elementary school serving our local communities and families. Our mosaic of families from around the world and those that have called Brooks and Alberta home for generations reflects the multicultural makeup of Canada. We offer a comprehensive PUF program for 3 & 4-year-olds, an Early English Language Learners program for qualifying 4-year-olds, an English Language Learner program for students arriving with little or no English language skills, and an engaging learning program for Grades Kindergarten to Grade 6. support students in instruction as well as with physical, social and behavioral needs;
encourage positive interactions between students and staff;
work closely and collaboratively with school staff including, but not limited to, classroom teachers and administration;
position may include activities such as lifting, transferring, and providing personal care, as necessary; position may have involvement in student school activities such as swimming or outdoor sports and may require the EA to participate with students.
Enjoys working with elementary level students and being in an environment with Pre-K and Kindergarten level students.
Understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.
Able to contribute to a classroom and social environment that put students first by support diversity and inclusion in alignment with Grasslands values.

Understanding of how the role of Educational Assistant impacts the community.
Personal integrity and trustworthiness and able to establish trust and rapport with students and coworkers.
High School diploma
experience working with children or other vulnerable populations in an educational, health care, or related setting
Considered an asset but not a requirement:

• Post-secondary training in education, as an Educational Assistant, or a related profession would be considered an asset
• 2 + years working with children or in an education setting would be considered an asset
• combination of education and experience may be considered.
