Senior Accounting Supervisor

Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for end-to-end financial reporting. This includes, but not limited to, end-to-end month-end close, journal entries, general ledger reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement preparation and report presentation. The successful candidate will have significant accounting experience in the end-to-end processes for month-end close, financial systems, financial report generation and presentation, balance sheet reconciliations and journal entry processing. The position requires an individual who is ambitious, self-directed, and capable of working autonomously or with the boarder finance and leadership team.
Perform month-end close procedures, including journal entries, accruals and reconciliations
Work closely with Accounts Payable and Procurement to ensure the completeness and accuracy of accruals
Work closely with Accounts Receivable Clerk to ensure reconciliations of physician billings are completed timely and reported accurately and completely
Support the annual financial audit process by preparing audit schedules, addressing audit inquiries, and ensuring all required documentation is available
Assist in the development and implementation of policies, priorities, and procedures to streamline day to day financial operations
Support ad hoc projects and assignments as assigned
Corporate Responsibilities:
~ Participate in all mandatory training requirements and work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, company Policies and Procedures, as well as established industry guidelines
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Commerce or related discipline.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation is considered an asset
- Previous experience in healthcare is considered an asset
- 3-5 years’ experience in full-cycle accounting
- Previous experience working with Meditech is considered an asset
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office with emphasis on Excel (Pivot table, VLOOKUPs, and other formulas)
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (ASNPO)
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Satisfactory passing of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check
- Ability to provide proof of immunization and TB records
