Reporting to the Director, Accounting & Financial Operations, you will be responsible for the complete and accurate recording of company transactions in accordance with Canadian GAAP (ASPE) standards. This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, accounts payable management, process improvement, and month-end close responsibilities. You will be expected to take ownership of assigned accounting tasks/projects, proactively identify and resolve issues, and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting processes.
We've been at this for 10 years, partnering with major North American retailers across thousands of stores and millions of shoppers, continuously refining a model with strong unit economics and real flywheel dynamics. Accounting Operations & Close
Own the month-end close process end-to-end: journal entries (prepaids, fixed assets, accruals), balance sheet reconciliations, and balance sheet/P&L reviews
Maintain the general ledger in NetSuite and the chart of accounts, including creation of new GL accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
Manage daily and monthly cash reporting and banking activities, including bank and credit card reconciliations, and prepare weekly vendor payment runs
Prepare monthly sales tax filings for Canada and US
Support annual audit and tax filing requests
Process Improvement & Automation
Lead process improvement and data clean-up initiatives across corporate accounting — standardizing chart of accounts, reconciliation templates, and reporting workpapers to support scalability and audit readiness
Identify and drive opportunities to incorporate AI and automation tools into accounting workflows, including report automation
Experience & Technical Skills
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with a foundation in accounting or financial reporting from industry
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE) and/or US GAAP/IFRS; experience with US and Canadian sales tax filing preferred; CPA a plus, though not required
- NetSuite proficiency is a must, along with advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google Suite skills
